Shades of Gray
Betrayed, then snared by bounty hunters for the crime she committed against the man who owns her, Beth seems ready to accept her fate, for now at least. As a designer girl, a prized genetically-modified human made for a man’s gratification, she’ll have to bide her time until she can taste freedom again, so long as the prison-like life she’s being returned to doesn’t kill her first.
When an accident and an encounter with three men change her entire trajectory, Beth has no choice but to trust them. Doing whatever she must in order to survive, she’ll have to please these rugged strangers while she plots an eventual escape.
Slade is the leader, stern, calculating, and breathlessly handsome, even with his long hair and bushy beard. Jake is the oldest, all muscle and brute force, while Kap shows a kind, though sometimes elusive tenderness. They live on lands outside of what’s left of the civilized world, going by their own laws and crushing those who get in their way.
What began as a chore of survival for Beth grows more complicated when her heart becomes involved. As she decides if her feelings for these men are more important than true freedom, her past comes back to haunt her with savage intensity.
Facing down the worst of her old life, will her men be able to save her? Or will Beth have to save herself?
Shades of Gray is a post-apocalyptic, steamy reverse harem romance. It’s told in close, third-person present tense with multiple POVs. While this is the second book in the Designer Girls: Black Rock series, it may be read as a standalone with a guaranteed HEA for Beth, Slade, Kap and Jake.
Please note there is some character crossover from Fade to Black, and that some world-building elements may be missed without reading book one in the series.
